Find the returning customer
The counter can search supported customer identifiers, including linked customer usernames where available, and attach the selected profile to a new order. Review the record rather than assuming an old address is still correct. Order history can help staff suggest a previous choice, with confirmation before repeating it.
Complete and check addresses
Address assistance depends on the configured service. Free postcode assistance can help with an area; it does not guarantee the exact building. Ask for missing house, street and delivery instructions. Optional map pins may need confirmation or correction.
Import contacts from your old system
Open Customers in the shop panel and choose Import customer contacts above the customer list. Upload the first worksheet of an XLSX file, or a CSV/TSV file, up to 5 MB and 5,000 contacts. Match the name, phone, address, postcode and notes columns; name and phone are required. Review the preview and skipped-row messages, then choose whether existing phone numbers should keep their records or update the imported fields. The list refreshes after import. This transfers contact details, not old purchase history or verified online diner accounts. The import action requires permission to edit the menu and create orders; existing shop feature access still applies.
Automatic pins after import
With customer-map access enabled, imported addresses enter a saved lookup queue automatically. Keep the shop panel open; you can close the import window or use other sections. If the panel is closed, unfinished checks resume when an authorised panel is reopened. Google Maps checks the saved address and full UK postcode, reuses valid cached or manual pins and respects lookup limits. The progress notice separates saved pins, waiting checks and addresses needing review. Approximate matches remain flagged for confirmation; incomplete or unmatched addresses are not given a guessed house position. Open Overview and choose All customers to see imported contacts, including people with no orders yet. Today’s customers and Top customers still depend on recorded purchases. Map setup and usage credit are required; temporary service or quota pauses retain the queue.
